Luke and Aida sunny wedding took place at the spectacular George Meehan House, North London, in June. It was a brilliant summery wedding, with so many bursts of colour everywhere.
The couple met on BlackBerry Messenger back in 2011. Luke saw a photo of Aida on the display picture of a mutual friend which led him to get in contact. 5 months down the line they finally decided to meet in Wood Green and the rest is history. Now they have been together for 8 years.
The first time we met Luke & Aida was on a couples photo shoot we did last year (May 2018) and we can remember a brief conversation about marriage. Pretty much a whole year later and they are married, RESULT! View our Shoreditch Couple Photo shoot with Luke and Aida here.
Aida got ready at her Aunts house surrounded by loved ones. There was a nervous and exciting atmosphere in the air as she had her hair and make-up done. She wore a beautifully tailored jumpsuit, with a cape. She custom made a veil/headpiece and rocked golden jewelry with the details of the day engraved. The African prints really added an extra bit of WOW factor and what she wore, really complimented what Luke wore, she looked so incredible. She then jumped into a pearl white Rolls Royce to get to the ceremony.
Luke got ready at a Travelodge not too far away from the venue with his best friends from University. He wore a tailored red and blue suit with golden detailing on the front pocket, collar, and cuffs of the jacket. A pair of brown shoes and a super sharp haircut made him look so dapper. He traveled to the ceremony with Earl, in his trusty silver Astra.
The ceremony took place inside of a beautiful turquoise room in Haringey. It was surrounded by fields, which was so nice because it was such a beautiful day and we wanted to take full advantage of it. The ceremony began with a beautiful sonnet by Luke and a song (Bob Marley – Is This Love), sang performed by the talented, Victoria Namulindwa and her guitar, and finished with a dramatic first kiss. It was a moving ceremony, full of so much love and nervous giggles. Aida, was very emotional throughout, which made some truly spectacular photographs for them to look back on.
After the ceremony, the couple took their exit followed by a heap of confetti. We then did some family photographs, which was so much fun. Finally, we did couples portraits, which was really chilled out. We got some stunning portrait photographs near the venue – of Luke and Aida, pulling their infamous gang poses which we did our best to recreate from our first photo shoot a year prior to the wedding. Once the portraits were finished the couple took a drive together in their Rolls Royce and we headed back to Aida’s house to capture the outdoor BBQ reception. The weather was fresh and sunny, which was perfect because the rain was on and off throughout the week, so we really lucked out.
Aida and Luke chose to have their wedding at George Meehan House because it was close to where they had first met, and it’s where they had their first date. George Meehan House is a modern Registry Office, and it’s got such a cosy atmosphere, especially in the grand hall whereLuke and Aida tied the knot.
For the reception, the couple enjoyed a BBQ in their parents garden. There was also a mini quiz, with a secret prize for their guests, and everyone loved it – There were bursts of laughter coming from all corners of the Garden. Everyone was then called in for food, which was traditional Kenyan and Ugandan cuisine – Cooked up by Aida’s aunty. It was absolutely delicious.
The couple then had Their fast dance (Brian McKnight – Never Felt Soo Good) after dinner, which was shortly followed by speeches from loved ones. It was really touching – Aida’s little brother gave an extremely touching speech where he announced that he looks up to Luke and wishes to become a similar man to him when he grows up – needless to say, this made Aida very proud and very emotional at the same time. There’s something about little brothers giving speeches which always turns out to be a tear jerker.
After the speeches, Luke and Aida cut into their beautiful 3 tier cake baked by T’S Bakes LDN. Then the dancefloor was open for business. The couple played everything from traditional African celebratory music to garage classics which kept the party going into the night. The next day the couple flew out to Bali for 2 weeks of Honeymooning.
Luke and Aida’s tip for planning a wedding day is… ” Don’t let anyone pressure you into doing what they want to do. One thing you do not want is regrets”.
We loved this relaxed wedding so much. If you’re getting married and looking for a two fun wedding photographer, get in touch.
